Hi! I’m David.
I’m Dad, photographer and teacher here to help you enjoy life more through photography. Specifically, photographing the life you live, with those you love. Who better to photograph your family, than you?! I have a passion for family, relationships and preserving the history we make on a daily basis. Something as simple as photographing your child while he/she sleeps to capturing event driven milestones. Everything in between is fair game. There is no right or wrong way to go about it. It’s your life! I want to see you record it and enjoy it as much as you possibly can.
Over the years I have been asked (too many times to count) what camera one should buy, how to use the camera, when and what to photograph. I have spent lots of time mentoring moms/dads and other photographers on the technical and creative sides of photography.
I remember when I decided to take photography more intentionally and learn how to properly expose an image. I was completely overwhelmed! I want to take that overwhelm away for you and provide you with a solid foundation to build upon. Once you have a foundation you can continue to grow and shape your vision.
My goal, as a photographer, is to capture life in real time. I am not in the business of making pretty photos. That’s not to say I do not enjoy pretty photos…. Most pretty photos do not make me “feel”. I want photos that make me feel and tell a story. Whether it be joy, sadness, anger or calm – doesn’t matter. If it evokes some sense of emotion in me, I am certain it will do the same for others. I do not shoot for anyone but myself. I tried shooting for other people, in the past. That does not work for me. I walked away empty and not enjoying any of the work I produced. Trust me, shoot for yourself and others will connect and enjoy, because they see your vision. I want people to experience what I see and feel the moment I choose to click that shutter. My hope is that you feel the same way and are eager to learn, create and share!
Being a single dad, I also am passionate about raising my kids the right way. Train them up in the way they should go, kind of way. We have had ups and downs over the past three years but life is really, really good! We are a team and love doing life together. I will no doubt share about the single dad life, parenting, cooking, choring (i made up this word!) and everything else that goes with it.
Welcome! I am happy you are here.
